To build a river rock wall with mortar, you will need: tools such as a trowel, hammer and chisel, mortar, river rocks of different sizes, and a level.
1. Prepare the foundation: Clear the area and lay down some gravel for drainage.
2. Mix the mortar according to manufacturer’s instructions, then spread it on the ground in a thin layer.
3. Place the largest river rocks first, making sure they are level. Fill any gaps with smaller stones.
4. Mortar the stones in place by adding a thick layer of mortar between them and around them. Make sure each stone is securely in place.
5. Use a trowel to pat down any excess mortar and keep the surface even.
6. Cover the mortar with a plastic sheet to keep it moist until it dries.
7. Wait for the mortar to cure before using the wall.
