1. Make a plan. Prior to building a shed floor base, you should create a plan that will determine the shape and size of your shed. This should include the location of any doors, windows, and other features you would like to include.
2. Clear the area. Before you start building, you should remove any debris from the area. You should also level the ground and add drainage if necessary.
3. Lay out the frame. Once the area is prepped and you have a plan in place, you can begin to lay out the frame. Depending on the size and type of shed, this frame may include pressure-treated 4x4s or steel joists that are secured together with concrete anchors.
4. Add the flooring. With the frame in place, you can now add the flooring. Typically, 3/4-inch plywood is used as a shed floor. It should be secured to the frame with galvanized screws.
5. Secure the shed to the ground. To make sure your shed stays in place, you’ll need to secure it to the ground. This may involve anchoring the shed directly to concrete pads or using treated lumber spikes.
6. Finish the floor. Finally, you can finish off your shed floor by adding trim boards, sheet metal flashing, and paint or stain.
