Concrete is the most commonly used material in staircases and can be calculated by following these steps:
1. Measure the length, width and height of the staircase and calculate the volume.
2. Once the volume is known, multiply it by the desired thickness of concrete to get the total amount of concrete needed.
3. If reinforcement bars are being used, deduct the amount they will displace from the total amount of concrete needed.
4. Finally, order the appropriate amount of ready-mixed concrete from a supplier.
