Creating cement statue molds requires a few steps. First, get two large pieces of poster board and tape them together to form an X shape. Next, prepare a fiberglass or paper-mache form of the desired statue shape and lay it atop the poster board. Trace the form onto the poster board and cut out the shape. Apply several layers of petroleum jelly to the inside of this cardboard shape and let it dry. Once it has dried, pour a layer of silicone rubber, a flexible mold material, into the form.
Let the silicone cure, then trim the edges, apply more petroleum jelly and mix up some cement mixture. Finally, pour the cement mixture into the mold and let it set. Once the cement has hardened, remove the rubber backing to reveal the desired cement statue.
