Vinyl/PVC pipe solvent cement is relatively easy to make. The main ingredients are acetone, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) powder, and a catalyst such as potassium or ammonium hydroxide. Start by mixing equal parts of the PVC powder and catalyst in a bowl.
Add three parts of acetone to the bowl and mix it all together until you get a thick paste. This paste is the solvent cement. Apply it to the areas that need to be joined and hold them together until dry. The solvent cement will dry quickly and form a strong bond.
