1. Clear the area where you plan to pour the retaining wall of debris and vegetation, making sure the surface is completely flat.
2. Dig a trench along the area where you want the retaining wall to be. Make sure the depth of the trench is such that it will accommodate the depth of your concrete blocks plus 4-6 inches of concrete to hold them in place.
3. Place a membrane along the bottom of the trench to prevent moisture from coming up through the concrete.
4. Create a level base for your concrete blocks by filling the trench with gravel. Compact the gravel down with a tamper or roller.
5. Place the concrete blocks into the trench and secure them together using mortar.
6. Check the level of the blocks with a level or string line, making adjustments as necessary.
7. Prepare your mix of concrete according to the manufacturer’s instructions, either using pre-mixed bags or creating your own mix from cement and other materials.
8. Pour the concrete around the blocks and into the gaps between them, using a trowel or float to smooth it out and level it off.
9. Allow the concrete to set overnight, then add soil and plants or other decorative elements to finish the look.
