The National Building Code of India (NBC) is a set of guidelines issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards for the construction, design and maintenance of buildings in India. It is based on the principles of building safety, structural stability, fire and environmental protection from natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods and cyclones.
The NBC provides safety guidelines for architects, engineers and builders to follow while designing and constructing buildings. It was first published in 1970 and is revised periodically since then.
