2. Secure heavy furniture and appliances to the walls or floor.
3. Learn how to shut off gas, electricity and water if necessary.
4. Know where to find emergency supplies such as a flashlight and first aid kit.

1. Drop to the ground, get down low and cover your head and neck with your arms.
2. Stay away from glass, windows, outside doors and walls, and anything that could fall, such as lighting fixtures or furniture.
3. If in bed, stay there and cover your head with a pillow.
4. Do not attempt to go outside during the shaking.
