Define false ceiling. Explain in detail four different types of false ceilings

Ceilings that are provided below the slab of the roof on suspended supports for the purpose of installation of lights and heat insulation of air-conditioners concealed electrical and other networking cables are termed as the false ceiling.

Types of False Ceiling

1. Gypsum false ceiling: It provides the sound as well as thermal insulation, it is fire resistant and is light in weight. It can be easily moulded into different shape and textures.
2. Fiber false ceiling: It provides the best sound and thermal insulation, makes tiles tough, it is resistant to fire, it is ideal for commercial uses.
3. Metal false ceiling: It is durable and hard, it needs less maintenance, it is easy to install and remove, and it is ideal for Ac ducts, electric wires, and, water pipes.
4. Glass false ceiling: It is brittle, and transparent which leads to smaller spaces looking bigger, it is good for heat insulators.
