There are several steps involved in refinishing wood floors.
1. Prepare the floor: You need to remove any furnishings, sweep or vacuum the floor, and repair any damaged areas.
2. Strip the old finish: Use a chemical stripper with protective gear and eye protection. Scrub the floor with a floor machine and a buffer pad. Vacuum the floor again and allow it to dry completely before moving on.
3. Sanding: Sand the floor in stages, starting with a coarse sandpaper, then using a medium and fine paper. Vacuum the floor again and wipe away all residual dust.
4. Finishing: Apply a coat of sealer to protect the wood from moisture. Allow this to dry. Then apply two coats of floor finish, allowing it time to dry between each coat.
5. Final touch-up: Buff the floor with a buffer machine and a cotton buffing pad. This will make your floors look as good as new!
