Hybrid ETC (Electronic Toll Collection): –

      • Hybrid ETC is an Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system in which all types of payment are available for User Fee collection also with ETC. It allows both electronic as well as a cash payments to be made.
      • Typically, movement in a hybrid lane will be slower than in an FASTag or dedicated lane.
      • The hybrid ETC lanes are currently only to ensure that those without a FASTagcan still pass through.
      • If a vehicle has FASTag installed, there is no need to getting in a hybrid lane, which allows such vehicles to pass through automatically, may also see a rush of vehicles without the mandatory stickers.

Dedicated ETC (Electronic Toll Collection): –

      • The Dedicated ETC lane is a lane within a conventional plaza that is only equipped to collect tolls electronically.
      • Dedicated lanes generally do not require a driver to stop their vehicle in toll plaza. However, due to physical constraints, collection staff safety, speed concerns, and traffic control.
      • The allowable travel speed is usually much less than the posted speed limit on the approach to the toll plaza.
      • Express lanes can support a much higher traffic and result is the least amount of delay relative to all plaza lane types. Because a single express lane prevents a user from passing a slower moving vehicle and requires wide shoulders to ensure continued vehicle passage if a lane blockage occurs, two express lanes are often considered a practical minimum.
