Beavers build dams by cutting down trees and using the trunks and logs to create a wall that slows water flow and forms a barrier. The logs are strategically placed so that the current can still flow naturally, but is redirected to the desired area. The beavers will then use mud and sticks to further secure the logs and walls.
This process helps to create a holding pond which can be used for a variety of needs such as shelter and food.
