The glass ceiling is a metaphor used to describe the invisible barriers that prevent women from advancing to higher positions in the workplace, especially in leadership roles. These “ceilings” are rooted in gender-based discrimination, limiting opportunities and career growth for female employees.
This can include difficulty gaining access to high-level training and mentorship programs, or being constantly overlooked for promotions and recognition, regardless of qualifications or job performance. Ultimately, the glass ceiling makes it difficult for a woman to reach her full potential in the workplace.
