Plywood is made by layering thin sheets of wood veneer, which are glued and pressed together.
The process begins with the selection of the woods to be used, typically a hardwood such as birch or oak, and softer woods such as pine and fir.
The wood veneers are then cut into thin strips, with each strip being glued together in a specific pattern known as cross–ply engineering.
The strips are then pressed together with a hot press and cured for up to 48 hours before being cut into the desired size and shape of the plywood.
After cutting, the plywood is sanded to remove any rough edges and then usually finished with paint or stain.
