1. Choose a location for your fire pit: Pick an area of your yard or garden that is away from trees, bushes, and any other flammable materials.
2. Gather your materials: You will need bricks, sand, a shovel, and a landscaping fabric to build your fire pit.
3. Lay down the landscaping fabric in the chosen spot: Secure the fabric with stakes or rocks, so that it won’t move out of place.
4. Dig a hole: Make sure the hole is about 10 inches deep and at least three feet wide.
5. Place a layer of gravel in the bottom of the hole: This will help drainage and reduce the risk of cracking bricks.
6. Place your first layer of bricks around the hole: Create a circular shape with the bricks that is two courses high.
7. Fill in the gaps between the bricks with sand: This will help the bricks stay in place and provide stability to the structure.
8. Continue layering the bricks around the perimeter of the pit and filling in the gaps with sand: Reaching the desired height, but make sure it is no more than two courses.
9. Place decorative brick or stone around the outside of the fire pit: This step is optional, but it will help give your fire pit a finished look.
10. Let the fire pit dry before using it: Once the fire pit has been built, it needs to dry for 24 hours before you can use it for a fire.
