1. Start by measuring and marking the area you want to build your retaining wall. Make sure to leave enough space for the sleepers.

3. Install a layer of crushed gravel at the bottom of the trench, then compact it with a tamper.
4. Place the sleepers in the trench, side-by-side and flush against each other. Use masonry screws to secure them together.
5. Fill the gaps between the sleepers with more crushed gravel. Compress the gravel with the tamper.
6. Backfill the area behind the sleepers with soil, or alternative materials such as stones. Pack it tightly.
7. To finish off your retaining wall, lay paving slabs or other decorative materials as required.
