o build a creek rock retaining wall, start by marking out the area where the wall will be built and excavating the area, making sure to slope the back of the excavation away from the wall. Next, use a flat shovel or rake to level the ground, then add 4-6 inches of crushed stone or gravel to the bottom of the excavation. Lay the first course of stones in an upright position along the outside of the excavation and use a rubber mallet to secure them in place.
Next, install drain pipe at the base of the wall and backfill around it with more gravel or crushed stone. Continue adding more courses of rocks and backfill until the desired height of the wall is reached, then add soil on top of the wall for stability. Finish the wall by adding a layer of river rocks or smooth stones for decoration.
