Column footings are sized based on the loads that the column carries. Calculate the total load on the column by adding the dead load, live load, wind load, seismic load, and any other applicable loads.
Then use a structural analysis software to determine the size of the footing needed to support the load. You may need to factor in the soil type and bearing capacity as well.
