      1. Begin by sweeping the floor with a stiff-bristled brush to remove dirt and debris.
      2. Vacuum the floor, paying special attention to corners and edges.
      3. Prepare a mild detergent solution, using one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid to every gallon of warm water.
      4. Mop the floor with the detergent solution, working in sections and moving from one side of the basement to the other.
      5. Rinse the entire floor thoroughly with a clean mop and fresh water.
      6. Dry the floor completely with clean towels.
      7. Remove any remaining stains with a chemical cleaner designed for concrete.
