There are several ways to finish plywood, including painting, staining, varnishing and sealing. For painting, you will need to sand the surface of the plywood, prime it, and then apply two coats of paint. When staining, you will need to first use a wood conditioner and then apply the stain. Varnishing the plywood will require sanding the surface, applying a wood sealer, and then two coats of varnish.
To seal the plywood, you can use a waterproofing sealant, polyurethane sealer or epoxy sealer. Allow each coat of the finish to dry completely before applying the next one.
