There are a few methods to fix scratches on wood floors depending on the severity of the scratch and what type of wood floor it is.
1) For light scratches, try rubbing a walnut in the same direction as the wood grain. If this doesn’t work, you can use toothpaste and buff it out with a soft cloth.
2) For deeper scratches, use a fine-grit sandpaper to gently sand the area of the scratch. Then, wipe away any dust before using a small amount of touch-up marker or stain that matches the color of your floor.
3) For deep gouges, filling may be necessary. Start by using a wax filler stick and then apply a matching stain if necessary.
4) Finally, finish off with a coat of polyurethane or varnish to seal in the repairs and protect your floor from future damage.
