Shotcrete is a concrete mixture that is pneumatically sprayed onto a surface to create a durable layer. It is a mixture of cement, sand, water, and additives that are sprayed at high pressure onto a substrate.
To mix shotcrete, begin by gathering the necessary materials. This includes cement, sand, water, and any additives you might want to use. Assemble all of these components in a suitable container such as a wheelbarrow or even a five-gallon bucket.
The next step is to mix the ingredients together. Start by adding the dry ingredients (cement and sand) into the container and then slowly add water while mixing. The idea is to get a homogenous slurry with a paste-like consistency. You may need to adjust the amount of water used until the desired consistency is achieved.
Finally, add any additional additives that you may be using to the mixture. This can include color powder, pozzolans, or fiber reinforcement. Mix these ingredients thoroughly for a few minutes until the shotcrete is ready for spraying.
