The removal of a cement retained implant crown involves the use of specialized dental tools to loosen and remove the crown from the implant abutment. Your dentist or dental hygienist will begin by isolating the exposed way for the crown and use a specialized dental tool or a dental drill to remove the cement from the abutment and crown. Once the cement has been sufficiently loosened, the crown is then removed from the implant abutment with a pair of dental pliers.
The abutment can then be cleaned and inspected for any damage before securing a new crown.
