There are several steps involved in setting a hydraulic door closer. The following instructions may vary depending on the type and model of your door closer, so make sure to check the manufacturer’s instructions for specific details:
1. Install the door closer into the door frame according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
2. Adjust the tension of the door closer by turning the tension adjustment screw located on the main body or arm of the closer. This will determine how fast the door closes.
3. Adjust the backcheck valve (if needed) by turning the turning the screw located on the back of the closer. This will determine how hard the door will close.
4. Adjust the latch speed by turning the speed adjustment screw located on the arm of the closer. This will determine how quickly the door will latch.
5. Finally, adjust the sweep speed by turning the sweep speed adjustment screw located on the arm of the closer. This will determine how fast the door will open.
Once you have successfully adjusted all the settings, test the door closer and make any minor adjustments as necessary.
