To stain plywood, you’ll need to prepare the surface by sanding it with a fine grit sandpaper. Once the surface is smooth and free of any dirt or debris, you can apply a wood conditioner.
After the conditioner has had time to penetrate the wood, apply your chosen stain with a brush or cloth and allow it to dry. You may need to apply several coats in order to get the desired color and finish. Finally, use a clear top coat sealer to protect the finish of your stained plywood.
