In which conditions raft foundation used ?

Raft foundations are used to when the soil condition is poor and the structure load is heavy. This foundation is mainly used for support structures such as storage tanks, residential or commercial buildings, silos, and large industrial equipment foundations etc.

Conditions when raft foundation used: 

• The soil’s bearing capability is poor.
• Individual foundation areas, or any other foundation area, would cover roughly half of the entire ground surface beneath the structure.
• The structure’s load must be spread out across a vast region.
• Any other sort of footing is unsuitable for usage.
• When the column or wall are positioned very closely then there are chances of overlap of Individual footings.
• The basement will be built.
• It is necessary to decrease stress on soil.
• If individual footing is employed, there is a chance of differential settlement.
• When soil layers are unpredictably variable and contain compressible soil pockets
