      Borrow pit is an area of high land that sand was Borrowed to feel a lower area of roads, building etc. Simply is where good soil is duged for feeling purposes .

      Borrow pits are used for the purpose of filling and embankments, earth has to be excavated by digging trenches along the side of road or canal or a railway track.

      These parallel trenches from which earth is borrowed is known as Borrow pits.

      Borrow pits are a source of danger to the traffic and hence should be avoided as far as possible.
