High alumina cement is a special type of cement made from calcium aluminate instead of calcium silicate. It has a higher alumina content than ordinary Portland cement, which makes it more resistant to high temperatures, chemical attacks, and corrosion. It is used in applications where very high strength and heat resistance are required, such as refractory concrete for furnaces, kilns, and boilers.
