Stepped footings are a simple type of isolated footing that is used on soil with little bearing capability. Because of the poor soil capacity, the load must be distributed across a broader area. Stepped footing steps are put upon one another. The Step footing are usually made up of three to four cross-sections piled on top of one another.
The major goal of the Stepped Foundation is to keep the column from coming into direct touch with the beneath soil, which can cause corrosion, and to properly transmit the load into the earth.
