OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) is made by grinding together a mixture of limestone and clay and then heating them at a high temperature. It is a more energy-intensive process than that used to make Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC), which is made using fly ash, a waste product of coal-fired power plants.
OPC is stronger, more durable, and longer lasting than PPC, with higher compressive strength and better resistance to chemical attack. While PPC is less expensive to produce, OPC is generally more suitable for structural applications and therefore is more commonly used.
