The outline or limits of an object that is symmetrical about a centerline in an engineering drawing are represented by thin continuous lines called symmetry lines. Symmetry lines are drawn with a series of short dashes separated by pairs of longer dashes. They are used to indicate the mirror image or reflection of the object’s features across the centerline. Symmetry lines help to emphasize the symmetry and balance of the object in the drawing.
