The Activated sludge process is a biological treatment for sewage or industrial wastewater treatment. in this process using aeration flocs are developed of bacteria. Here air (oxygen) is used to oxidize this organic sewage or wastewater. As per the flow diagram for removing the pollutants, arrangements are as per it, where waste comes through the aeration tank and is attached to the settling tank which allows bio flocs to settle down and pass the clear water and then biological sludge for further treatment and final disposal. Sludge bulking occurs which makes activated sludge difficult to settle.
