To calculate the capacity of a dam you will need to know the number of cubic meters of water in the reservoir (average depth and area of the reservoir), the maximum depth of the reservoir, the height of the dam wall, and the surface area of the dam wall. Once you have all of these measurements, you can use the following formula to calculate the capacity of the dam:
Capacity (cubic meters) = Average depth x Area x Maximum depth + Height of dam wall x Surface area.
