Plywood weight is typically calculated using a volumetric conversion factor. To calculate the weight of plywood, multiply the volume (length x width x thickness) of the plywood in meters cubed by the density of the plywood. The density of plywood varies depending on the type and can range from 350 kg/m3 to 600 kg/m3. Depending on the plywood grade and type, the weight can vary significantly. For example, a 4′ x 8′ sheet of 3/4” plywood can weigh anywhere from 29 kg to 41 kg, depending on its type (e.g. softwood, hardwood, marine-grade). To ensure proper calculation of plywood weight, it is important to use the correct type and grade of plywood. It is also recommended to double-check the weight of the plywood before purchasing or using it.

The weight of plywood can be calculated by multiplying the volume of the plywood (length x width x thickness) by the density of the wood. Density is generally given in pounds per cubic foot (lbs/ft3).

For example, if you have a plywood that is 4‘ x 8‘ x 3/4“ thick, the volume would be 192 cubic feet. If the density of the wood is 40 lbs/ft3, the weight of the plywood would be 192 x 40 = 7680 lbs or 3.84 tons.
