There are several ways to test if plywood is waterproof. One of the most reliable methods is to conduct a water immersion or “bucket test”. For this test, fill a bucket with water and submerge a sample of the plywood in it for 24 hours.
After the 24 hour period, inspect the plywood for signs of water absorption, such as swelling, discoloration, or warping. If the sample appears to be unchanged, then it is likely to be waterproof. Other methods include checking for water vapor permeability and performing a laboratory liquid-water resistance test.
