To fill a shape or area with color in AutoCAD 2016, start by drawing the object or area you want to color. Once you have the object or area drawn, open the Properties palette by typing PROPERTIES at the command line.
Select the object you want to color and scroll down the list of properties until you see “Color”. Click on the drop down menu next to this option and select the color you wish to apply. Click okay and the color is applied.
