1. Prepare the wall by scrubbing the brick surface with a stiff brush to remove loose dirt and dust.
2. Apply a base coat of cement over the wall by mixing one part cement to three parts sand. Spread it over the wall with an evenly, flat trowel.
3. Allow the first coat to dry before applying a second, thinner coat. Make sure to add enough water to the mix so that it is spreadable.
4. Use a steel trowel to create a smooth surface by pushing, flattening and working the cement mix into the bricks.
5. If desired, add texture to the wall by using a brush or comb to lightly comb the wall for a stippled effect.
6. Let the wall completely dry before painting or sealing it.
