To produce cement, first the limestone and other ingredients such as clay, sand, and iron ore need to be crushed into a fine powder. After that, the powder is heated in a rotary kiln.
The heath causes the limestone and other materials to combine chemically, forming calcium silicate hydrates, which are strong and durable. Finally, the resulting clinker is ground up into a fine powder, to produce cement.
