To stain hardwood floors, you will need to prepare the floor and apply a wood stain or dye. First, make sure the floor is thoroughly cleaned and all dust and debris is removed. Next, sand the surface of the hardwood with a medium sandpaper to remove any existing finish on the floor and create a smooth, even finish.
Once the surface is prepared and sanded, you can apply a wood stain or dye with a rag, paint brush, or spray gun. Allow the stain to dry completely before applying multiple coats of a sealer to protect the wood and prolong the life of the floor.
