A Change point is defined as a point when shifting of level from one point to another point, that point is known as change point.

      Taking of change point

      • In levelling, after setting up of instrument first take back sight (B.S) reading on bench mark or TBM.
      • Then take intermediate sight (I.S).
      • Final possible reading from the station is fore sight (F.S).
      • When staff is so far, then we need to take change point (C.P).
      • Shift the instrument on another possible location.
      • Take the back sight (B.S) reading on last staff.
      • It is a point on which fore sight (F.S) and back sight (B.S) are taken.
