To take dimensions in AutoCAD, you first need to activate the dimensioning tool by clicking the ‘Dimensions’ tab in the top menu, then click on the ‘Linear’ tool. Once the tool is activated, select the two points you would like to take a dimension between.
The dimension value will appear as a text box that can be moved and altered according to your requirements. If you need to change the formatting of the dimension value, simply double-click on it to access its properties window.
