To use a theodolite to measure angles, first make sure the instrument is level and set up on a tripod. Then, align the vertical axis of the theodolite so it is pointing towards the angle that needs to be measured.
Once the vertical axis is in place, adjust the horizontal axis so that it is pointing towards the starting point of the angle. Then, adjust the vertical and horizontal circles until they read the angle you wish to measure. Finally, record the angle reading.
