To varnish plywood, you’ll need to clean the plywood with a damp cloth, sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper, apply a coat of wood sealer or primer, and then finish with a few coats of varnish.
Allow each coat to dry before applying another. Once all the coats are applied and dry, give the wood a light sanding with a high-grade sandpaper (320-400 grit) and buff with a soft cloth.
