Soil is a material composed of five ingredients — living organisms, minerals, water, and gas soil organic matter. Soil minerals are divided into three size classes —silt, sand, and clay
The four components of soil include mineral matter 45%, organic matter 5%, air 25%, and water 25%. Therefore, the soil is 50% solid and 50% pore space.
