Steel is reinforced in the concrete to construct column, footing, beam and slab in residential and commercial buildings and construction sites. thumb rule is used to calculate a steel in slab
See lessThumb rule is very easy process or standard based on practical experience rather than theory, it is not accurate or reliable for every situation, it provides us quick decision at construction site.
For slab
How to calculate quantity of steel in slab of the length, width and depth of slab is 8m × 7m × 0.10m.
Calculating volume of concrete 8m × 7m × 0.10m= 5.6cubic metre, here we have slab of 8meter length, 7meters width and 0.10m thickness
volume of concrete of slab = 8m × 7m × 0.10m=5.6 cubic metre.
Calculating the Steel quantity in slab as 1% of volume of concrete.
According to Thumb Rule Steel quantity required for RCC slab
Steel density = 7850 kg/m3, so quantity of steel in slab = 0.01× 7850× 5.6= 439.6kg.
