      Prestressed concrete gets formed under rest, the formation of reinforced concrete is at rest. The inherent compressive strength of concrete is fully used. Alloy steels that are specially used to form the prestressing tendons are fully used.

      Due to the elimination of tension cracks, the risk of the steel components corroding is reduced. Shear stresses get reduced.

      The reduction in weight is achieved by using a smaller cross-section component, for given loading conditions and spans. The formation of a composite member occurs when individual precast concrete units get joined together.
