Some of the disadvantages of dam construction include:
1. Environmental disruption: Building large dams on rivers can affect the natural environment, causing displacement of human settlements, destruction of habitats, changes to river flow and temperature, and introduction of alien species.
2. Economic disruption: Building large dams can be extremely expensive, and can cause economic disruption in areas that rely on the water or where people are relocated due to the dam.
3. Safety issues: Reservoirs created by dams may lead to problems such as flooding, landslides, and other safety concerns.
4. Social disruption: Building a dam can cause social disruption in areas where people will be relocated, and where access to the river is restricted.
