A repeating theodolite is an instrument used in surveying for measuring horizontal and vertical angles. It consists of two arms, one mounted horizontally and one vertically, connected to a telescope that is centered or pointed at a fixed target.
The instrument allows for rapid angular measurement by providing a “repeating” mechanism which eliminates manual readjustment of the arms.
