There are two types of cofferdams: sheet pile and cellular. Sheet pile cofferdams are constructed by driving interlocking steel sheets into the ground. Cellular cofferdams are constructed using pre-engineered sections or boxes which are floated into place and filled with sand, clay, or rock.
