Optical theodolite is a type of surveying instrument used in geomatics and land surveying to measure angles between designated points, usually in the horizontal and vertical planes. It is used to measure and align both linear and angular distances and elevations. It combines a telescope mounted on two axes with a rotation sensor that measures the angles accurately.
